The MageyStars and the Enchanted Sock Saga's that shape Mytharia

Gather ’round, brave souls, for today we peer into the inner workings of the Citadel’s most respected (and I use that term loosely) council. I mean of course the MageyStars.

Now, you might think a group responsible for the fate of the realms and the weaving of enchantments would be a solemn, focused bunch. You’d be wrong.

This, dear readers, is a council that once spent three full days in heated debate over which shade of enchanted blue best suited their ceremonial robes. Spoiler: they ended up choosing both.

You see, the MageyStars aren’t just any group of spellcasters. They weren’t your average wizards in stuffy robes. No, these were the finest minds who could cast spells strong enough to move mountains but couldn’t agree on the color of said mountains afterward. From the exact hue of their robes to the superiority of their enchanted tea blends, the MageyStars can, will, and do argue about anything and everything. And when it comes to serious matters, like selecting a royal suitor? Well, things only got more absurd.

For years, the MageyStars squabbled over the perfect match for Rionagh. Suggestions flew around the room like enchanted teacups. Much to everyone’s bewilderment, there was even a parade of candidates…

Lady Enigmare, a formidable witch even by Granny Elara’s standards. Had an unsettling fondness for riddles. Not the clever kind, mind you, but the sort she made up on the spot with… mixed results. Her favourite solution involves a cooked cabbage and a crystal duck. Don’t ask, it’s complicated, and if you’re curious, you’ll just have to read the book to figure that one out.

A rather charming bard, decided to put himself forward. His charisma was unfortunately undermined by the small problem of being tone-deaf. Quite literally. He couldn’t carry a tune even if his life depended on it – and according to some of the more dramatic tales, it very nearly did.

Then, there was the brooding warlock, who strode into the chamber with a smoldering intensity that some might have mistaken for confidence. Sadly, his primary love affair was with his own reflection. This led to an incident involving several enchanted mirrors and a disastrously botched love potion, the less said about which, the better.

But the pièce de résistance was when the Goblin Master Grueblin made his grand suggestion. "Why not the goat?"

Yes, you read that right. A goat.

This wasn’t just any goat, mind you. Oh no, this was a talking goat – one that had earned quite the reputation for reciting terrible poetry. Grueblin swore that its latest sonnet, “Ode to a Stale Loaf,” had brought him to tears. Whether those were tears of joy or horror, no one asked. But for a brief, terrifying moment, the council seemed seriously tempted to make the goat their choice. The debate over its qualifications went on far longer than was reasonable until someone finally pointed out that a suitor who could only bleat in iambic pentameter might not be the best match for the future queen.

And then, of course, there’s the self-appointed Grand Arch MageyStar. He was never known to be the most subtle of wizards, as anyone who’s attended a council meeting can confirm. This is a man, well really he would best be described as, more of a presence. One who firmly believes his socks hold more magical power than most wands. With a pompous drawl that could put a dragon to sleep, his passionate and somewhat long-winded monologues about the “artistry and craftsmanship of magical hosiery.” often riled up every meeting, without fail. If Granny isn’t careful, she could turn the meetings into an unofficial sock showcase, with members showing off their most recent additions in what can only be described as a bizarre, magical catwalk.

The MageyStars and their endless sock battles—this is truly the stuff of legends.

Ah yes, the socks. What began as a passing comment during an otherwise uneventful council meeting had spiralled into a years-long feud.

You see, while others are busy debating matters of importance, our dear Arch MageyStar is meticulously pulling up his ludicrously embellished socks, making sure everyone gets a good look.

His socks are not just socks. They are a fashion statement, a personal philosophy, and—according to him—the cornerstone of any true mage’s wardrobe. Embroidered with constellations, dragons, and possibly an entire miniature kingdom (because why not), these socks are his pride and joy. His fellow MageyStars, of course, are not to be outdone. They’ve all got their own collections, and so the ongoing argument about whose socks possess the most magic drags on, meeting after meeting.

Take Master Norad, for instance, who’s convinced that his socks. Oh yes, his socks—are imbued with the finest enchantments in all of Mytharia. He swears they make him twice as fast during meetings, though no one’s ever tested this theory, and frankly, no one wants to.People at the Citadel whisper that Norad once halted the entire MageyStar council for three full moons, claiming his enchanted tea leaves had revealed that only socks with silver thread could break a curse placed on the Citadel.

This led to the Great Sock Debate 782,

Which lasted for a good five years. Five. Entire. Years of a rather unfortunate knitting spree, and a brief but intense bout of naked sheep roaming around Mytharia’s Citadel.

As the MageyStars bickered and paraded their enchanted socks with all the seriousness of a royal gala, it was Granny Elara who watched with a knowing twinkle in her eye. After all, the council, blissfully lost in debates that mattered about as much as Nialgra’s opinion on knitting, gave her the perfect cover; she had free rein to do just about anything she fancied. After all, it was rather satisfying to watch them get so deliciously distracted from the actual issues at hand.

So, while it might sometimes feel like watching a cat argue with a thunderstorm. Remember: Granny Elara is the one who ensures their chaos doesn’t tip too far into true disarray. Granny, as always, seems to have her hands at the helm, navigating through nonsense with a grin sharp enough to cut through enchanted silk.

And so, dear readers, as the world spins and stories unravel, remember this: sometimes the most remarkable tales are spun from threads of the absurd, a dash of naked sheep, and the undeniably clever hand of Granny.

Until next time, may your adventures be wild and your mysteries ever so slightly less terrifying.
